The literature definition of a short story is that it narrates a small incident, that begins and ends within the story, and it must deal with one aspect of the situation, so u cannot put everything thr, this story narrates a 10 min. incident of a working woman's life, it doesn't describe all of her aspects as a woman, employee, wife & mother.. so do not judge anything other than what's mentioned!

toni, i didn't understand ur comment actually

socrates, the ONLY word that took ur attention is diapers, not her love for her family and kids, not her willingness to pay double effort out & in side her home to please herself & her family....

Please anyone who do not understand the story and the point it's negociating, save urself the time of writing a ridiculous comment. I have deleted one of those comments by an anonymous.
I've talked about Women rights and social justice a long time back since secondary school maslan... but women rights never said that women should become men, and being a mother is an honour for a woman. I said the story talked about 1 aspect of this woman's life.

It is very narrow minded to think that a successful woman would despise her role of being a female & mother. The woman that denies her femininty is lacking self confidence..

And finally i just want to mention that i'm a Software engineer, i can speak 3 languages other than Arabic, have many social & volunteering activities, and yet i like cooking, and love to become a wife & mother. I am never ashamed of being a woman.

1. "u" doesn't refer to you "lili" it refers to anyone
2. all what i meant is that u pointed on the idea of the "mirror" ,coz it never lies, and it's z only time u really look at urself... and it makes u know what u r actually doing in ur life.. is it what u really want/should do or not...
(sorry for long comment)

no no .. the mirror here points to a very private and sensual moment for that woman, she'd been the successful working have-it-all woman all day, and this is her private moment to appreciate her femininity... that's all.. the story's not about "fulfilling ur life purpose or getting closer to ur personal legend" :))

NO lil: what caught my attention is the fact that the woman in the story sees that going back to being "the eternal female" means: cooking and changing diapers, well, household chores that's to say, and I cannot make the connection between :"the eternal female" and household chores, In addition, she sees the liberation from a social role that compels her to look like a Barbie in embracing the role that makes here a house maid, sorry, I don't get it, It seems I have a low IQ

"The woman that denies her femininty is lacking self confidence.."

I'll ask you the question I'm asking everybody these days:

"What exactly is femininty? and what does it have to do with changing diapers and cooking and cleaning?"

This is my point of view, u might agree or disagree, i might not be expressing it well, but kol wa7ed w qodrato :)
